Little Girl in a Crowd

This is my first post so I really had a hard time choosing. I decided to go with this one taken on a businees trip to LA last fall. I just love the way the little girl sticks out of the crowd. One of my favorites.

The high contrast is very good. Girl and the guy facing toward you give your shot a dramatic punch - very nice; welcome to the site!

Very nice! You know it's good, but don't seem to be sure why. Let me take a shot at it. In a black and white photo the eye will be drawn to the lightest area. There is a large light area in the background, but since the girls light face is against a dark background it "pops." It pulls the eye to it. Also the location of her face in the composition fits the traditional rule of thirds. Wikipedia has an excellent explanation if you are not familiar with the composition rule of thirds. Sorry to greet you with a lecture. But I prefer to give comments that go a little further than "nice shot!" Welcome.

First post huh? Well, you picked a great one for your debut. Now, I'm no professional, infact I'm really not much of an ameteur... I just like taking pictures of scenes that appeal to me. This scene appeals to me, and dang it, you saw it first! The reason I like it is because the young woman and the tall man stand out starkly among the crowd of blurry faces. There's a story there, why is the tall man grimacing? Why is the girl so worried looking? The viewer can only wonder and hypothesize... (thats always fun).
